St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital utilizes state-of-the-art testing instruments to offer a full range of laboratory testing services, from routine blood-work to the diagnosis of pathogens and cancers, and is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and State of Georgia. Highly skilled medical technologists, medical laboratory technicians, and phlebotomists staff the lab 24 hours a day, seven days a week. St. Mary’s board-certified pathologists are available for physician consultations.

  • All our medical technologists have obtained their bachelor’s degree in medical technology or medical laboratory sciences and are ASCP and AMT certified. (American Society for Clinical Pathologists and American Medical Technologists).
  • Almost all important laboratory tests are done in-house and turn-around time for send-out tests (to St. Mary’s Hospital of Athens, or Labcorp) is 24-36 hours or less, depending upon the test.
  • The laboratory uses high-tech state-of-the-art equipment
  • Blood transfusion services are available 24/7

A physician’s order is required for all testing. Test results will be communicated to your physician as soon as results are available.
