Cardiologist John Layher featured guest at Fashion Show
Celebrating Heart Month, Dr. John Layher will talk about women’s heart health at Go Red for Good Sam
GREENSBORO, Ga. – January 14, 2019 – John Layher, MD, a cardiologist now practicing full time in Greene County, will be the featured guest at the Go Red for Good Sam Fashion Show and Luncheon on Monday, Feb. 11, from 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee. The event will benefit St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital.
Dr. Layher will briefly introduce the topic of women’s health and cardiac care. Women experience heart attacks at the same rate as men, but often have more subtle symptoms. Knowledge of warning signs can save lives. In addition, Dr. Layher will highlight the growing array of cardiac services at Good Sam.
He is a co-founder of Oconee Heart and Vascular Center. OHVC has its main office in Athens, offers his new full-time location at 1110 Commerce Drive, Suite 108, Greensboro, and has additional clinics in Lavonia and Monroe.
A board-certified cardiologist, Dr. Layher earned his medical degree from Indiana State University, completed his internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University, and completed his cardiology fellowship at Indiana University School of Medicine’s Krannert Institute of Cardiology. He holds subspecialty certifications in nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, cardiac CT imaging, and pacemaker and defibrillator placement.
The fashion show will feature 20 models who have strong connections to Good Samaritan Hospital or the Greene and Putnam county area. Fashions will be provided by Sonia Says of Athens and models’ makeup and hair will be done by Zapien’s of Greensboro. In addition, guests will enjoy a “Sip and Shop” with complimentary passed champagne and the opportunity to shop at many local vendor’s “pop-up shops.” The event also will include a silent auction, cash bar, and a delicious luncheon.
This year’s fashion show is sold out, noted Debbie Cornelia, chair of the Heart and Soul Fashion Show Committee. “The outpouring of community support is fantastic,” she said. “We continue our event’s history of completely filling the Grand Ballroom. It’s a great tribute to the generosity and passion of our community.”
“Go Red for Good Sam and other Foundation events are tremendously important to healthcare in our region,” said Good Samaritan Hospital President Tanya Adcock. “To meet our growing area’s needs, we are continually recruiting physicians and staff and enhancing our equipment, facility and services. We rely on the community’s generous philanthropic gifts to maintain our status as a state-of-the-art facility that provides excellent care.”
